SPECIFIED SKILLS SYSTEM
The labor shortage, particularly among small and medium-sized enterprises, is becoming more serious, and there is a possibility that this will hinder the sustainability of Japan's economic and social infrastructure. In response to this, the Specified Skilled Worker System was established to build a system for accepting foreign nationals who have a certain level of expertise and skills and can be immediately put to work in industrial fields (specified industrial fields) where it is still difficult to secure human resources despite efforts to improve productivity and secure domestic human resources. The "Specified Skilled Worker" residence status is divided into Type 1 and Type 2.
Flow of Work
In order to work with a specific skills visa, you will need to take and pass a Japanese language test and a skills test (those who have successfully completed Technical Intern Training No. 2 do not need to pass the exams. However, if you want to work in a field other than the job type of your technical intern training, you will need to pass the skills test for the field you want to work in). After that, if you sign a contract with a company, you can apply for a specific skills visa. If your application is approved, you will be able to work as a specific skills worker.
